I refer to my New Year’s Resolutions as goals and I rarely make new ones. Each year I usually just list the previous year’s objectives again with a few tweaks.
Here are some of my goals for 2018 (in no particular order):
- Stay active
- Hike/backpack
- Write more
- Blog posts
- Work on longer pieces
- Continue playing the violin
- Research and make a farming business plan
- Continue to move toward a plant-based diet and eliminate meat
- Train to do a split
- Find my passion!
I wrote these on the first page of my 2018 journal as a daily reminder of what I am striving towards. I realize that most of these goals aren’t very measurable, which makes it difficult to determine whether I’ve accomplished anything. But I just like to use them as cues to mold my lifestyle to include these items in particular. If I open my journal at night and see this list, it sparks my brain to keep them in the forefront. When I look back on my year and see that I’ve worked at least a little bit on everything on the list, then I call it a success.

Perhaps in the coming years I will move away from vague goals and create some tangible objectives, but for now this works for me.
Another item on the list for 2018 is to go on our honeymoon! We weren’t able to go on a big vacation after our wedding last year because Greg didn’t have any vacation days available and then we found out we were moving right afterwards! So that will be an exciting upcoming adventure!
Thanks for reading!
