A few weeks ago (February 5th) we got lots of snow! It was a complete white-out outside my window the whole day on Friday.

That is, until suddenly the sky turned bright orange! I ran to get my camera to take some pictures of the sunset. It lit up like an aura due to the snow and clouds still in the air.

Greg didn’t have to do work that weekend, so we got to hike both Saturday and Sunday! Despite being buried in snow, it was a very sunny weekend and I wore the right amount of layers to be the perfect temperature. Which is a huge success for me because normally I get cold so easily!
Here are some pictures we took on Saturday in Pond Meadow Park. The snow was still so fresh; there were several inches on the branches, giving the woods an ethereal vibe. It was pretty deep – I could see snowshoe tracks along the path. The snow was melting off the trees due to the bright sunshine and we were frequently bombarded with clumps of snow on our heads! It felt like the trees were trying to have a snowball fight with us! We didn’t retaliate.

Our Sunday hike in Blue Hills Reservation wasn’t as beautiful as the one on Sunday but it was still such a blessing to be able to walk through the woods together with nowhere else to be. The intense sun was melting the snow off the trees while we walked underneath so we were basically getting rained on! The ground was getting slushy, but our boots kept us dry.

It was a really great weekend to be surrounded by nature. I’m glad I have the photos to remember the moments.
