Ghostly White Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Even though Halloween is over, I wanted to share this fun DIY Halloween treat I designed!

A few weeks ago, we went to Trader Joe’s to get a jar of their famous cookie butter.  My favorite way to eat their cookie butter, besides straight off the spoon, is on little pretzels.  I had an idea that maybe I could make pretzel sandwiches with cookie butter in the middle and dip them in white chocolate!  After making about five of them, I got tired and decided just to use the rest of the melted white chocolate to make plain dipped pretzels.  (Chocolate covered pretzels are my kryptonite!)  After placing the first few dipped pretzels on the parchment paper, I noticed they resembled little ghosts  – with the upper holes being their haunting eyes and the bottom hole as their sagging mouth.  I suddenly had the idea to put chocolate chips in the eye holes and these ghosts were born!

(Super easy) Instructions:

  • Melt white chocolate using microwave or double boiler
    • (side note: double boiler always makes me think of the song “The Wells Fargo Wagon” from The Music Man, anyone else? “It could be curtains, or dishes, or a DOUBLE BOILER!”)
  • Dip pretzels in melted white chocolate
    • I like to use two forks as if they were tongs to drip off the excess chocolate
  • Set on parchment paper
  • Place two chocolate chips in the upper holes for eyes
  • Let dry
  • Enjoy!

Note: They don’t have to be perfect; making them messy gives them funny expressions! Just make sure you have a little bit of the white chocolate in the eye holes so the chips stick.
